This Halloween, CSPS hosts the return of an old R-rated favorite, The
Rocky Horror Show, the all-local stage version of the famous midnight
cult flick.
In a story told by a mysterious narrator (Brian Anderson), The Rocky
Horror Show follows one crazy night in the lives of a sweet and innocent
couple, the upstanding and uptight Brad (played by Charlie Barnes) and the
innocent Janet (Jackie Kehoe).
When their car breaks down in the rain, the duo take shelter in the home of
Dr. Frank N. Furter (Ryan Foizey), the “sweet transvestite,” and his legions
of gothic rock ‘n rollers —
including Riff
Raff (Rob Merritt), Magenta (Megan Donohue), Columbia (Abby Pedersen), Dr.
Scott (Matthew Ford), Eddie (Matt Aswegen), and Rocky himself (Spencer
Anderson).
The night becomes one of adventure, love, lust, and horror, where virtually
anything can happen —
including the
response of the audience, which is encouraged to sing and dance along on
classic hits like “The Time Warp.” Thanks to the success of the cult classic
movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the stage musical has gained a
rabid following of loyal viewers who know every line (and even shout out
responses).
Other Rocky Horror cast members include Brad Fritz, Bryant Duffy,
Darcy DeLong, Bailey Sande, Jason Spina, Jared Cameron Anson, Kathleen
Skillen, Danny Yuska, Courtney Smith, Alex Chapman, Zoe Sigman, CJ Mobberly,
Christina Arcea, Traci Simonson, Heather Michele Lawler, Megan Besler, Todd
Gale, Lexie Bartling, Jeremiah Newman, Rae Lacy, Emily Elwood and Heather
Riley.
The show’s director, Alisabeth Caraway, is a veteran actress, singer, dancer
and choreographer who appeared in the role of Magenta in Theatre Cedar
Rapids’ 2007 and 2008 productions of The Rocky Horror Show. Examples
