COME AS YOU ARE
Iowa premiere | Eastern Iowa
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) performers converge June 2 at
Hamburger Mary’s for an event that should prove to be as outrageous as it is
thought-provoking.
A series of original performance pieces
—
ranging from the American Gothic couple in
search of a threesome to a “Secret Santa”-confessional
—
explore the diversity of queer sex, using the
forms of theatre, dance, poetry, music and comedy. The changing realities of
queer sex and the role sex has played in the LGBT movement will be explored.
The project is part of a nationally coordinated series of live performances
presented as a collaboration between
The Theatre Offensive, who kicked off the project in Boston; Legion Arts,
the local sponsor; and local
partners
ACE Iowa City; the
Cedar Rapids Gay & Lesbian Resource Center, and
Hamburger Mary’s.
Come As You Are (Cedar Rapids) will take place, one night only, 9 pm,
Weds June 2, at Hamburger Mary’s, during Cedar Rapids Pride Week.

invited to attend a free performance workshop led by visiting artist Eugene Tan of
Boston's Theatre Offensive, Sat May 15, noon to 3 at CSPS. Did we mention
it's free?
On Sun May 16, from noon to 3, Eugene will lead a free workshop for area
