Cedar Rapids Rising
 

(Jun3 2008) Following the flood, enormous challenges confront the families, neighborhoods and communities of Eastern Iowa. As we embark on the long process of rebuilding, we at Legion Arts believe that individual artists have a unique and important role to play.

The same holds true for artist-centered organizations. Our hope is that CSPS will continue to serve as a center for innovation, diversity and community in the months and years ahead.
 

Toward that end, we've been talking with neighborhood leaders and grassroots organizations all around Cedar Rapids, as well as artists and arts centers in New Orleans, across the US, and around the world.
 

We've organized an alliance of Third Street building owners, and together we're working with city, state and federal officials to ensure the continued vitality of our neighborhood.
 

But mostly we're looking, as we always have, for ways in which today's outstanding artists can connect with, and strengthen, the communities we care about.
