The Unlikely Candidates are an indie rock band from Fort Worth, Texas. Formed in 2008, the group started as an acoustic duo made up of childhood friends Kyle Morris and Cole Male, and then expanded to include guitarist Brenton Carney, bassist Jared Hornbeek, and drummer Kevin Goddard. In 2013, the band released their single “Follow My Feet,” which earned a place on the alternative charts. In 2016, their hooky single “Your Love Could Start a War” reached number number 36 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs, while 2017’s “Ringer” topped at 38. More recently, The Unlikely Candidates wrapped a handful of shows at this year's SXSW and then hit the road with The Brevet, playing everywhere from Ames to Chicago, from Brooklyn to Washington, Nashville and Atlanta. The band has performed alongside Weezer, Panic! At The Disco, and Phantogram, while their tracks have been featured on shows ranging from American Idolto ESPN's Indy 500 coverage. Meanwhile the five-piece has been praised in The New York Times, Esquire, Nylon, and Alternative Press.Their latest single, “Novocaine,” is a catchy, stadium-worthy anthem off of the band's forthcoming fall 2019 album, and has racked up more than a million views on YouTube since its May 2 release.
