The Sea The Sea is an Upstate New York-based indie folk-pop duo-band featuring what Huffington Post calls, “Two of the loveliest male-female voices you might ever hear this or any other year.” Their 2014 debut release, Love We Are We Love, received praise from NPR, American Songwriter and No Depression, among others, gathering over 7 million streams on Spotify.
This fast-rising singer-songwriter duo is made up of Mira Stanley and Chuck E. Costa. They accompany each other with electric/acoustic guitars, along with piano, percussion and the occasional banjo, but it’s their rich harmonies that bring down the house. Their perfectly matched voices sometimes share the back-and-forth conversations of the songs’ characters and other times are the exchanges of one mind, weighing a decision, analyzing the moment, and trying to find the answers. Lonesome Noise says, “Alone they are exceptional, together they are powerful. It is a rare feat for two people in this world to find in each other the capability to hoist each other to new heights.” Mountain Stage host Larry Groce calls them “ready to take their place among the best young duos now performing.”
