CSPS Hall welcomes back to its stage Cedar Rapid's own performing singer/songwriter, Carol Montag, for her "A Carol Christmas" concert. Montag has graced the Legion Arts stage many times with the former Christmas trio known as Tribute. Joining Carol will be Cameron Sullenberger, musical director and founder of Revival Theatre Company, on piano and vocals, Matt Butler on cello and vocals, and Jeremiah de la Pena on percussion. Montag is excited to present a totally new string and vocal mix. The concert will feature traditional and contemporary Christmas music celebrating Christmas past, Christmas present, and those yet to come.

Based in Iowa City, Elizabeth Moen is an indie-rock singer and songwriter, “armed,” says Iowa Public Radio, “with a jaw-dropping singing voice, tasteful guitar playing, and songs that stay in your head for days.” She taught herself how to play guitar as a teenager, and it was the writing community of Iowa City that inspired her to write her own songs. Other inspirations include Alabama Shakes, Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen, Esmé Patterson and Lake Street Dive, along with such artists as Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, and Bonnie Raitt.

Dickie’s 2015 self-titled release was a moody testimonial of singer-songwriter Dick Prall. Prall took a succession of personal losses and nestled them inside a beautifully-layered soundtrack that found Dickie on the top of several “Best of” lists that year. 2019 finds Prall in a nostalgic headspace, partnering with talented drummer/multi-instrumentalist Billy Barton to produce a stripped-back mix of reflective and pulsating sing-alongs in the latest release, Minus Thieves .

Harper and Lee are a husband and wife alt-Americana, singer/songwriting duo who performs with a kick-drum, foot tambourine, acoustic and electric guitars to reveal their unique style of original music. Although married, Harper and Lee grew up thirteen years apart which allows for the unique collaboration of older style folk with a modern rock twist. This allows the duo’s captivating sound to transport everyone who hears it into nostalgia. You won’t find a perspective on traditional sounds quite like these two. Harper and Lee’s live shows connect the audience in a way that makes you feel right at home no matter the size of the stage.

The brash blasts of the accordion, the shuffle of feet, the wailing vocals in old French... The sound of Cajun music is well known through the United States and abroad. But for Louisiana-based band The Revelers, it’s just the start of the story. Headquartered in the city of Lafayette in Southwest Louisiana’s Cajun Country (New Orleans is home to jazz, but not a native home to Cajun music), the band is dedicated to the “holy trinity” of Cajun culture: hot music, all-night dancing, and great food. But they’re determined to explore the larger world of Louisiana music as well, and with their new album, The End of the River (Au bout de la rivière), they’re tapping into their deep lifetimes of knowledge of Swamp Pop, Zydeco, and old-school Louisiana dancehall music.
