Join us as the popular Cedar Rapids band unveils their latest album, Return of the Skelton, and walk out with a copy of the new CD. As ever, the Surf Zombies raise surf rock from the dead with fast, crazy originals that straddle alternative, underground, retro and kid-friendly fun. A Surf Zombies show is some combination of Saturday morning cartoon, beach party and hot rod convention. The jungle rhythms, swirling tremolo of dueling guitars and authentic growl of vintage tube amps make for a truly weird Midwestern wonder. Guitarist and main songwriter Brook Hoover has been tearing up stages across the Midwest for decades, with such illustrious crews as the Meerkats, Motorolas, Dick Prall Band, Circle of Fiends, Spider Gear and Sarah Cram and the Derelicts. In Surf Zombies he’s joined by Luke Ferguson on drums, Ian Williams on second guitar and Trevor Treiber on bass.
Opening the show is the Cedar Falls outfit TWINS. Formed in early 2012 by the Brothers Sires, the band has found success by demonstrating all the swagger, hooks and wild abandon a music fan could ask for. Adding a new dynamic to the American bar band sound, TWINS carries that tradition on its shoulders, while steering its music in new directions, away from the indie rock mainstream.
