In the latest production from resident company Mirrorbox Theatre, Lynx returns to Chicago one year after he mysteriously disappeared, having been presumed dead by his friends and lovers. A presence that haunted everyone in his orbit, this enigmatic figure is suddenly resurrected like a Millennial Messiah. But Lynx and his friends are about to learn that not all mystical things are miraculous.

Sender blends comedy and tragedy to deftly interrogate the coming-of-age myth for a modern audience. This play, like last year’s Exit Strategy, is part of Ike Holter’s seven-play Chicago cycle. Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune has said of these plays, “once people wrap their heads around it, might just be one of the most significant literary achievements in modern-day Chicago.”

Holter’s work has been performed Off-Broadway, at Steppenwolf, and the Goodman Theatre, among others.

This Iowa premiere will be directed by Cavan Hallman, Mirrorbox Theatre’s Artistic Director. Hallman has directed the Iowa premieres of Exit Strategy, Red Speedo, Luna Gale, and There Is a Happiness That Morning Is for Mirrorbox.
