From Toronto to New York, Budapest to Berlin, audiences around the world have hailed Lemon Bucket Orkestra as folk music revolutionaries. Since their inception six years ago, the band has grown from its initial quartet of buskers to a twelve-piece guerrilla folk force with an army of fans at home and abroad. Employing accordion, clarinet, horns and violins, as well as sopilka and other ethnic instruments, the band takes the audience on a joyful, impassioned ride through the Balkans and beyond, as it journeys from orchestral Bulgarian tunes, to Russian and Hungarian folk songs, to Romanian reels and Ukrainian chorales. A groundbreaking, genre-bending phenomenon, the band has performed all over the world, from WOMAD in New Zealand to Pohoda in Slovakia. The Guardian proclaimed their performances "gorgeously sung and passionately played,” while The New York Times has declared the group "charismatic, handsome and ambitious.” You won’t want to miss this dozen-strong juggernaut. It is, in the words of the Winnipeg Free Press, "Amazing, frenetic, gloriously anarchic and ultimately joyous!” This is a free concert, with a suggested donation of $5.
