We’re happy to welcome back Carsie Blanton, a singer, songwriter, guitarist and piano player based in New Orleans, whose most recent album, So Ferocious, has been called “a playful indie-pop record for smart, ferocious libertines.”
Over four albums, her output has ranged from folk and pop, through Americana and rock, to classic jazz. When a reporter recently asked her to identify her primary genre, Carsie responded, “Making music is like making love; if you only know one way to do it, you’re not very good at it.”
Over the past decade, Carsie has toured extensively in North America and Europe, both as a headliner and as support for artists ranging from Paul Simon and Shawn Colvin to Catie Curtis and The Weepies. Her live performances have been praised for their wit, humor, and captivating charm. In addition to four full-length albums and two EPs, Carsie has gained popularity for her outspoken blog, which frequently tackles questions of love and sexuality, and a series of innovative music videos that emphasize pleasure, ferocity, and female empowerment.
Says John Oates, of Hall & Oates, “Her sly wit and urbane imagery reminds me of a female Cole Porter.” Exclaims the Washington Post, “Carsie Blanton has hit one out of the park.”
