REAL HELP FOR CREATIVE Professionals

Postponed from Dec 1 | In response to last summer's flood, Legion Arts, Access Iowa, and the Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance have teamed up to sponsor a series of free public forums addressing how artists and communities can support each other during the rebuilding process that follows a disaster.

The series aims to put Eastern Iowa artists and organizations in touch with regional and national resources, bring the cultural community together, and explore opportunities for working together during this difficult time.

This program, the second in the series, will draw on the resources of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit organization, based in New York, that helps artists and arts organizations function more effectively as businesses by providing access to funding, healthcare, education, and more, all in a context that honors their individuality and independent spirit. The program, featuring Adam Natale, Director of Member Series, will focus on how you, the artist, can take advantage of Fractured Atlas’ Insurance and Development programs, as well as other support systems available in the field.

The program is free and open to the public. The presentation and discussion will be followed by a reception.

Those planning to attend are invited to reserve a place with Joe Jennison of the
Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance, at joe@culturalcorridor.org.

Adam J. Natale
is Director of Member Services for
Fractured Atlas. He joined the organization in December 2005 and has since seen it grow immensely, with over 2000 members joining within the past year. He currently oversees the organization’s online learning, development grant, and liability insurance programs, among others.

With Fractured Atlas, Adam has spearheaded an artist healthcare advocacy/awareness campaign in Washington, D.C.; created an innovative audience development program with organizations including Theatre Development Fund and High 5 Tickets to the Arts; and currently represents the organization as one of 17 nationally-elected arts leaders on Americans for the Arts’ Emerging Leaders Council.

He has served as a panelist or presenter for a number of influential arts organizations, including Theatre Communications Group, Tisch School of the Arts, the National Performance Network, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. For Fractured Atlas’ Open Arts Network, he has formed collaborative partnerships with over 40 arts organizations across the country.

Prior to joining Fractured Atlas, Adam served the Theater & Musical Theater disciplines at the National Endowment for the Arts, where he worked on such programs as Shakespeare in American Communities, American Masterpieces and  the National Heritage Fellowships, as well as adjudicating grants for international programs and the Coming Up Taller Awards. While with the NEA, he worked alongside scores of theater, musical theater, literature and folk and traditional arts professionals serving on grant panels.

In his spare time, he is an Associate Producer with the New York Musical Theatre Festival as well as a freelance theater and musical theater director. Adam is a graduate of American University with a degree in Directing for Theatre and Film and an Associate Member of the Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers (SSDC). He is originally from Philadelphia.
